From an iconic Ford to a couple of Audis we reveal the most popular cars we’ve financed on Oodle.

AT Oodle Finance, we are all about matching our customers with their perfect cars, some of the UK’s best car dealers, and personalised finance. In just a few minutes*.

Since launching last year we’ve received more than £800 million worth of finance applications from our customers. We’ve not managed to support every single one of our customers, but seamless matchmaking isn’t easy. It takes a measured matchmaker to make the magic happen, but when it does there is no better feeling.

27% of all our applications have been for black cars, but that’s enough data for one day. Without further ado, here are the top ten cars bought on finance with Oodle:

№10: BMW 1 Series

BMW 1 Series was launched in 2004, since then it has become one of the car giant’s most popular models. The 1 series contributed to almost a fifth of total BMW sales in 2008, when its new model was introduced. Though initially disapproving of the BMW 1, Jeremy Clarkson changed his tune with the arrival of the ’08 model, giving it five stars.

№9: Nissan Qashqai

Launched in 2006, the Nissan Qashqai is the first ‘crossover’ car — the combination of an SUV with a hatchback. Much of the development of the Qashqai was done at the Nissan plant in Sunderland and today a finished Qashqai leaves the production line every 62 seconds. The Qashqai can travel 839 miles on a single tank of fuel, making it possible to traverse the length of the United Kingdom — from John O’Groats in Scotland, all the way down to Land’s End, Cornwall without the need to refuel. It’s been voted ‘Car Of The Year’ in no fewer than 19 countries.

№8: Audi A1

The Audi A1 is Audi’s first ever super mini. Drawing from their years of experience building executive rides, the cabin bears all the marks of class and good looks you would expect from a premium brand. A Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system also allows the driver to speed round bends meaning that this 4-metre long car is designed for maximum fun.

№7: Audi A3

Both the Duchess Kate of Cambridge and Prince Harry own an Audi A3 and the luxurious interior will make any driver feel like royalty. It’s not simply stylish, it also accommodates an intuitive and easy-to-use dashboard. This is a premium hatchback which is practical and reliable.

№6: Vauxhall Astra

The Vauxhall Astra started life as the ‘Opel Kadett’ a whopping 80 years ago and production hasn’t stopped since. It isn’t just the name that has changed — the car itself switched from a rear-driven saloon to a front-driven hatchback in 1979 making it a cheaper and more practical family car. Drivers clearly agree, with the Astra selling over 24 million models in 8 decades.

№5: Land Rover Range Rover SP HSE TDV6 A

This is the younger sibling of the Range Rover. A multi-purpose family vehicle which is just as comfortable off-roading as it is doing the school run. Plush leather seating means that this is a truly comfortable ride.

№4: Ford Focus Zetec

This is an ideal family car with a quiet interior making it a comfortable environment for long motorway journeys. The lowered suspension on the Ford Focus Zetec makes it more aerodynamic — so zipping around in it feels sporty and fun.

№3: BMW 520D M Sport Auto

BMW’s headquarters in Munich are modelled upon the “Vierzylinder” (four cylinder) engine system. The 5-series had its debut in 1972 and since then over 5 million have been sold. The impressive grip makes it feel solid and sturdy, simply gliding over potholes and bumps.

№2: Vauxhall Corsa Limited Edition

The powers-that-be at Vauxhall originally protested the name ‘Corsa’ arguing it sounded too similar to ‘coarser’. Despite the name, this trustworthy car is a smooth ride. World Rally champ Colin McRae used to drive a Corsa, as did Matt Smith who later donated his to Starlight Children’s Foundation. Renowned for their comfort and spaciousness (friends of Dr Who used to nickname his ‘The Shed’), the Corsa is a humble icon enjoyed by former-Timelords and rally drivers alike.

And…drumroll please…

№1: Ford Fiesta Zetec

This is the most popular model we finance. Did you know that before Ford settled on the name Fiesta, it’s working title was Bobcat? So popular is this car, that one is produced every 86 seconds. Cheap to run and good to drive, this car tops many dealers’ lists as an affordable first car or family ride.
