Carrollton Market is one of those hidden gems that folks around town don’t intentionally rave about, mainly because they want it all to themselves. I wholeheartedly can’t keep this place a secret any longer! Located in the Riverbed 1/2 block off Carrollton Ave. (8132 Hampson St, New Orleans, LA 70118), Carrollton Market is a special place.

Lead by Chef Jason Goodenough (yep that really is his last name), Carrollton Market is quaint and inviting all the while producing top notch food. Below you’ll see some of the stuff I scarfed down, but the big standout to me was where I…

It’s been a long time, we shouldn’t of left you, without a dope beat to step to is the best way to apologize for being absent the last few months. For the last few months, I’ve been taking care of family in their time of need, and I have let the website lay in waiting. I wanted to take the time to refresh the site and get back to what the site should always be, Just New Orleans.

With my first feature, I wanted to highlight a place that has become a sweet escape for me, and that’s Drip Affogato…

I’ve been spending a lot of time in the French Quarter as of late. Being a person built on the idea of routine, coffee (specifically iced coffee) is my morning godsend. I have always been a huge fan of the well positioned and highly accessible original Cafe Envie ( 308 Decatur St.), it’s their latest location further down the main French Quarter boulevard (1241 Decatur St.) that has really captured me. These two totally different spots are my go to places for my first or even my third iced coffee. Their newest location seen below is quaint and equally efficient…

The CBD has now officially become coffee central in New Orleans and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. My pal and longtime cyclist and super talented art director Wes McWhorter has recently opened his latest passion project, the cycling centric cafe, Rouler (601 Baronne St, New Orleans). Located smack dab in the middle of one of the city’s highest growth areas, Rouler is more than just a cafe. In the time I’ve spent there this week, I’ve recognized it’s more importantly it’s about being part of community. Here’s their mission statement —

“Rouler is a cycling-related lifestyle brand specializing in performance apparel, mechanical and fitting services, and competitive and non-competitive events. Nestled in the vibrant heart of downtown New Orleans, our flagship store invites patrons to linger and enjoy the rich cycling culture and community of our wonderful city.”

Wes and his team have provided a…

Francohiles and candy-holics can now rejoice in the recent opening of the adorable La Riviere Confiserie (sweet shop en français) on Magazine Street. Located smack dab in the middle of Magazine Street (3719 Magazine St.), this essential sweet tooth outpost imports some of the best delights from all around France.

One of my favorite movies of all time is “A Good Year”, and is filmed is Provence, France. La Riviere could have easily been located just doors down from Marion Cotilliard’s restaurant in the movie. Besides the obvious French influenced and quaint interior, it was the beautifully designed tins and colorful packaging that really piqued my interest. Each brand and it’s products had a story of excellence, passion, and a provenance that went back several 100 years and generations. I was fortunate enough to sample a few pieces as I toured the great shop with owner Kyly Larriviere, and was…

Early last week I was out and about shooting around Prytania and St. Charles Ave. My normal intake of coffee runs along the same schedule as a newborn child…every few hours or so. I got a late start and found myself fiending for some iced coffee, and then I recalled seeing a few images of the brand new Prytania Hall Coffee (3445 Prytania St, Ste B) on Instagram. Located between St. Charles + Delachaise and Prytania Ave., this european inspired cafe was just what I needed. It’s an opulent and perfectly petite coffee outpost that offers iced coffee, espresso drinks, and super fresh baked goods. The one of my favorite features of the shop is the outside cafe style seating begging you to slow down, have a seat and enjoy the day.

New Orleans has been “up and coming” for quite some time. Neighborhoods all over the city are being revitalized and renewed. One of those neighborhoods is Central City and specifically, one of it’s main thoroughfares, Oretha Castle Haley.

I was downtown for the weekend mainly because of Boudin, Bourbon, & Beer and for a long time I wanted to stay in the Q&C Hotel/Bar (344 Camp St.). Located in the CBD, and just blocks away from Champion Square, as well as tons of New Orleans attractions, the Q&C proved to be a perfect home base.

Right off of Camp and Poydras in the heart of the CBD, The Q&C (formerly the Queen & Crescent Hotel), totally exceeded all expectations.

The property is keenly separated into two buildings that both house spacious and comfortable rooms. …

This year marks the second year in a row The Emeril Lagasse Foundation event Boudin, Bourbon, & Beer has been held at Champion Square. The event brings together some of the best chefs from around world as well as chefs from our own Nola backyard in support of the foundation and the young people it benefits. This year proved to be bigger and better than ever with fantastic food and drinks as well as some great performances (Silverado Pickups, Nola’s own Sweet Crude, Elle King, and St. Paul and The Broken Bones ). Below you’ll find our highlights from the year’s event split into categories for your viewing pleasure. Check it below and enjoy.

In plain view, “Uneeda Biscuit” are emblazoned across the wall as you walk into the John Besh Group’s newest eatery, Willa Jean.

Those words could not be any more closer to the truth. I mean here in the South everyone needs a biscuit or two, or let’s go with it, a dozen. Located in the brand new Paramount at South Market development (611 O’Keefe Ave, New Orleans, LA 70113) in the CBD, Willa Jean anchors the block smack dab in the middle of all the action. Here’s some more info about the new property…
