Ethical Engagement with Indigenous Communities

In collaboration with the Vice-President Research, the Research Ethics Office, the Research Services Office, the Faculty of Native Studies, and UAlberta North, the Indigenous Initiatives Office (IIO), has continued work to identify institutional best practices around research ethics, financial administrative processes (First Nation, Métis, Inuit Honorarium Payment Guidelines), and accountability mechanisms for teaching and research involving Indigenous peoples at the University of Alberta. To date, we have hosted consultation sessions with 90 people from 30+ faculties and departments on best practices for ethical research engagement with Indigenous peoples.
