Indigenous Initiatives Open House

The IIO hosted the inaugural monthly “Tea with Shana and Chris” in January 2019 and had around thirty participants attend. These drop-in style open houses welcome faculty and staff from across the UAlberta campus into the Indigenous Initiatives Office space to hear about ongoing initiatives for the unit. No formal agenda is presented for these sessions, rather informal networking opportunities to share stories and initiatives with colleagues is encouraged in order to foster a sense of community and collegiality, and to break down the barriers of siloed workspaces across campus. These “Teas” will continue to be held on a reoccurring monthly basis and are open to all faculty and staff at the University of Alberta.
