We are pleased to announce the NEW First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) Honorarium Payment Guidelines here.

Extensive consultation on these guidelines was completed by Human Resources alongside the Office of the Dean of Students, Faculty of Native Studies, Financial Services, Supply Management Services, the Office of the Provost, First Peoples House, and all faculties and departments.

This information is to be used as a resource guide to assist faculties and departments in understanding the importance of honorarium to First Nations, Métis and Inuit individuals (FNMI) in a culturally sensitive way.

These guidelines are not a formal mandated policy or procedure, rather some guidelines around the process, payment methods and suggestions for appropriate remuneration amounts for some ceremonies or events. The remuneration amounts are simply recommendations and can be modified by each faculty or department to meet the specific needs of each area.

Discussions surrounding honorarium payment guidelines have been happening for many years with various stakeholders from across campus.
