In Japan, “gyutan” is one of the most popular ingredients in Japanese cuisine. It is mainly imported from the US and Australia because there are not enough cows in Japan to meet the domestic demand. It is sliced and then grilled with garlic. It has a chewy texture and a meaty rich taste as it contains more fat than other parts of beef meat. Beer and wine go perfectly well with it.
