It is a seasonal fish available for one month in autumn. It can be eaten only in the areas close to the sea in Kochi prefecture, as it quickly goes bad. It is cut into bite sized pieces, and served on ice. “Bushikan(a type of citrus fruit)”, which is also seasonal, is cut into half and the juice is squeezed on it . The fresh, tangy flavor of the fruit, and soft, refreshing taste of the fish make people feel like autumn has come when they eat it.
