The Aftermath
She lay awake most of the night, and each time his body brushed against hers, her own body would stiffen. She got very little sleep, and when she did eventually drop off, she dreamed about the greasy lipstick stains that greeted her the following morning.
The next few days, Richard continually walked on eggshells around Gina. He went out of his way to do little things to please her, including making the bed, cooking meals, and even spending less time with his birds.
Most of the time, Gina behaved coolly towards him, if she showed any emotion at all. When he held her in his arms at night, she just lay motionless. As for their love making; based on the signals she gave him, he knew better than to try to initiate sex. They barely even kissed, except for the superficial pecks on the cheek.
