CHAPTER XXVI

‘Winston, come here.’

‘Yes sir, what happened?’

‘We are missing a book. Do you know where it is?’

‘Which book sir?’

‘‘The History of Dreamland’ from the restricted section’ The curator blurted out, knowing Winston had it.

‘No sir.’ Winston insisted.

‘Rubbish. Tell me where it is.’ The curator yelled as he banged the desk violently.

‘Sorry sir but I’m afraid I don’t know the location of the book you currently find missing.’ Winston stated as coldly as possible, even though his hands were wet as a towel.

‘Be sure of what you speak, because it can have dire consequences’, John mouthed.

CHAPTER XXVII

Revant was now starting to wonder what had just happened. He was now mourning for his father. He also sought to think about what will David do with the knowledge he was about to bestow upon him, he couldn’t reach any conclusions so just tried to fulfil his hunger with the fruits present in front of him.

An agonisingly few meters away, David was smiling. He had just insulted Rigel, tattered him and warned him about the consequences of his actions. Additionally, he was now going to finish his quest for knowledge. He was going to live his success. Now that Rigel and his friend were in the cellar, he could now focus on Revant. Again, the memories of his friend rushed his mind and he stopped his tears from rolling down the cheeks of his aged face, much more aged than the rest of the body.

Pushing these thoughts away, he opened the lock and found Revant with a mouthful of berries. He forced a smile and Revant replied, ‘I was hungry. It’s my snacks time.’

Not the least bit interested, he threw the same question a third time in front of Revant and could feel he was going to get the answer now.

CHAPTER XXVIII

‘Perfect!’ Rigel exclaimed as he pulled out a chit of paper from his pocket.

‘Rigel, I was thinking that why don’t we add some adventure in it, now that everything has gone by our plan?’

‘What adventure? Isn’t this enough for you?’

‘Just that, we can try this out ourselves and learn this chit out so we can use it in an emergency.’

‘Look here, I’m in no mood of hysterics now. We’re going to do it now.’

‘And if he has good intentions?’

‘Don’t make me laugh now, Did you see him today or rather hear him? He absolutely ripped us apart and besi….’

‘Because you broke his trust, because you ran away, and he didn’t even bother you while you were in Manchester.’

‘So should I wait for him to kill me?’

‘No, just for the moment.’

‘Okay. But as soon as we get the slightest hints about his evil intentions, we’ll go for the safer option.’

‘Of course Rigel.’

CHAPTER XXIX

‘Thank you Revant.’

‘It’s alright, now tell me, how do I go back?’

‘Now that you’ve asked me, I shall tell you this. Whom I was helped by, to create this Dreamland told me this when I asked about the exit. “ Nobody knows, anybody can find” so you can, any soldier can, I can but until now nobody has found.’

David saw Revant fall motionless on the chair, with vacant eyes and an un-wriggled forehead as David moved out of the cabin and instructed the nearest soldier to escort Revant to the cellar.

He was smiling now and was going to wear the lab suit for the first time in five years.

A dumbstruck Revant was met with an equally dumbstruck pair of his students. Rigel could feel this may well be the hint for him to use the chit he felt continually on his right thigh pocket.

‘Let him rest for some time and try to learn this.’ Rigel then stated, holding out the chit of paper.

CHAPTER XXX

Winston’s hands trembled as he tried to wipe off the blood from his forehead and moved as fast as he could towards the exit, which, upon reaching there, he found to be locked. He tried several passageways before finally deciding to ring the police, which ultimately he couldn’t, as he viewed the sight he dreaded the most.

‘So, up and running then?’, John asked dismally.

There was no reply. Presumably, Winston was up and running, but didn’t dare answer. Or rather he was too busy to answer.

‘No reason to fear Winston. Now that you’ve accepted to have it, just return it to me.’

‘It’s not possible.’ Winston finally forced the words out.

‘What do you mean?’

‘It’s not here.’

‘So where is it?’

‘I do not know.’

‘Do not play tricks boy. Just tell me where the goddamn book is?’

‘It’s …….. It’s in the Dreamland’, Winston said and felt a huge weight off his shoulders.

‘What do you mean?’

‘I do not know much about it but I know that two of my friends have taken the book to the goddamn Dreamland.’, Winston felt increasingly proud of his transitional usage of the curse and consequently couldn’t stop himself from an awkward smile.

Meanwhile, John was weighing his options, maybe he means Rigel, maybe he went to the Dreamland, maybe he’s gonna kill David. Whatever the case, he needed to act, and act fast.
