6 Freelancer Maintenance Tips For the New Year
While things are quiet, take this time to get ready for the year ahead.
As I write this, I’m amid the twilight of 2023 — those days between Christmas and New Year’s when it seems like everything is in limbo until January 2nd.
It’s a weird time, and, in the past, I’ve been at a loss for what to do that week. There are only so many naps I can take, and I was on the US Power Nap Team at the 2016 Winter Olympics. (Honest! We took home the silver.)
Anyway, it turns out there are many good ways for a freelancer to use downtime more effectively than practicing one’s sleep sprints. It doesn’t even have to be done at the end of a year but at any time when you’re experiencing a little bit of downtime.
Here are six maintenance activities you can take care of while things are slow.
Get administrative tasks done
Do you have any unpaid invoices that need to be followed up on? Do you maintain accurate tax records? How is your printer ink supply? Is your workspace tidy, well-stocked, and organized?
