ADVENT: The Coming of Christmas Its Meaning for Us Today (Week 2)
Advent Season of Christmas is (1) December 1, (2) December 8, (3) December 15, and (4) December 22.
THIS IS TWO OF FOUR PARTS: DECEMBER 8, 2024
The birth of Jesus allows all of us include him in our lives to live in victory because of his life, death and resurrection. The New Testament calls it reigning in life because of God’s free gift of righteousness and grace (Romans 5:17). This was predicted for hundreds and hundreds of years. Most people knew about it, but it seems not everyone really expected it.
Four candles of Advent represent (1) hope, (2) peace, (3) love and (4) joy. Each is lighted at a different time. A song, LIGHT ONE CANDLE by
Peter Paul and Mary is worth listening to. Here it is on YouTube.com:

The First Candle: HOPE
Genesis 8 talks about 40 days of hopeful waiting. This was the same time Jesus waited before beginning his ministry at 30 years (the age during his day when a man was considered mature enough). This was his 40 days in the wilderness being tempted by Satan.
