why must I choose sides
in battles that can’t be won
choose moderation
please realize life and morals
lack fucking absolute truths

choices in spectra
consequences yes not brands
accept difference
priorities may diverge
tolerance spirit requests

This post follows up on this one that I posted over the weekend.

For those who haven’t read the poem, I wrote it several months ago, after an upsetting conversation with a dear friend of nearly 40 years. We haven’t spoken since.

They find it unacceptable that I expressed understanding of why many non-MAGA voters voted for him. (See my, Trump Voters Are People Just Like You and Me, Who are you to sit in judgment?)

In their mind, I have insufficient sympathy for my friend — I’m not a sufficient ally.
