Yesterday, I opened my email from SubStack. I usually don’t pay too much attention to emails like these. But this one was really important and disheartening at the same time.

It’s hard to compose an email that does both, but this one did exactly that.

The email said Elon Musk limited the reach of your SubStack articles if you share them on Twitter. That is a blow to me as well as all writers.

If he limited the reach of your SubStack articles, he would probably limit the reach of your Medium and other blog articles as well.

That’s a double whammy if you are old enough to remember the game show Press Your Luck.

Musk’s idea already applies on Facebook and they limit your reach when you share a link from an outside platform. So it had to make its way to Twitter, eventually.

Elon Musk’s idea is to keep users on Twitter. He wants their money and doesn’t care if you want to make money.

You know Musk needs to make money since he bought the platform that was already in the red. There is no better way than to hurt users who are also trying to build their own platform.
