Govinda (George Harrison of the Beatles production) cover by Music with Michele

Here comes the sun & HEARING the sunshine is healing!

Famous Beatles guitarist George Harrison produced an album in 1971 featuring Govinda, which is a bhajan (devotional song) in the ancient language of Sanskrit.

This recording of Govinda is a cover of this bhajan that I learned from George Harrison.

George Harrison started recording The Radha Krsna Temple album in 1969.

Most of us know that George Harrison recorded All Things Must Pass, featuring My Sweet Lord, in 1970.

Both of Harrison’s musical collections were inspired by the Vedic Yoga/Vaishnava/Bhakti Yoga teachings of Bhaktivedanta Swami, who is honored on these classic album and CD covers. Vedic Yoga can be considered a devotional (bhakti) monotheistic strain of Hinduism. Vedic Yoga features non-sectarian philosophy and sastras (scripture) including rich colorful epic stories such as the Ramayan and the Mahabharat. The core of this philosophy is that we are not the body, but an eternal spirit soul residing in a material body*.

Below is a link to photos from my visit to the George Harrison’s Manor in the UK featuring an lyric art garden dedicated to Harrison’s commitment to these beautiful teachings. George Harrison named the yoga manor the Bhaktivedanta Manor. Bhaktivedanta Manor is a Gaudiya Vaishnava Hindu temple and garden set in the Hertfordshire countryside of England, in the village of Letchmore Heath near Watford. https://michelethetrainer.medium.com/the-beatles-george-harrison-was-a-yogi-8d548f6232f

You can read more about the history of The Radha Krsna Temple album here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Radha_Krsna_Temple_(album)

Other musicians have been inspired by these teachings, such as John Lennon, Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, Sting (*We Are Spirits in the Material World) and many more.
