Police brutality, isn’t something new, especially against African Americans. But when the shootings of unarmed young black men by cops in the US turned into a hot topic, it formed a Twitter hashtag named #BlackLivesMatter. The Black Lives Matter movement has changed many aspects of society in the United States and around the world since its inception in 2013. It has become a rallying cry for the recognition and respect of Black lives, challenging systems of oppression and centuries of racism and inequality.

This movement not only sparked a global conversation about racism, and justice but also made people realize the importance of standing up for those who are oppressed and marginalized.

At its core, the Black Lives Matter movement is about advocating for justice for Black people and recognizing their lives as having value and worth. It seeks to challenge structural racism, police forms of violence, and discrimination against Black people and communities.
