So much is said to day about us, “Getting back to the basics and the power of the first century church.”

Someone has said that getting back to the basics
in things is a lost art, but it is so very important.
It is said: “The greatest truths are too important to be new.”

When you think seriously about it, the first century church was under intense persecution and prosecution. People could be imprisoned, and even killed for believing in Jesus. Families weren’t safe and were often divided with children taken from their parents. Property could be taken by the authorities if you were a Christian.

Living in the first century was quite literally ‘hell on earth’ at times.

Yet the people of the first century had a spiritual empowerment that was totally lost after the first century. It only truly lasted for about 50–75 years after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 A.D.
