How scary is Splash Mountain at Disneyland? Do you know? In this blog post, I’ll share my unbiased review of Disney’s Splash Mountain water ride.

When it comes to thrilling water-based rides, Splash Mountain at Disneyland is often hailed as a classic. Nestled in the heart of Critter Country, this attraction promises an exhilarating adventure through the colorful world of Br’er Rabbit and his friends.

But just how scary is Splash Mountain? Let’s dive into the details and find out!

The Sudden Plunge: A Rush of Excitement

One of the most iconic moments of Splash Mountain is the heart-stopping plunge down a steep waterfall. As you board your log flume and make your way to the top of the drop, a mix of anticipation and nervousness builds up.

Once you reach the peak and take the thrilling plunge, a burst of adrenaline rushes through your body. It’s a moment of pure excitement that leaves you screaming with delight.

The Suspenseful Storyline: A Twist of Mystery

Splash Mountain is not just about thrills; it also weaves a captivating storyline into the experience. Based on the classic Disney film “Song of the South,” the ride takes you on a journey with Br’er Rabbit as he tries to outsmart Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear.

Along the way, you’ll encounter mischievous critters, lively musical numbers, and unexpected twists and turns. This immersive storyline adds an element of mystery and intrigue to the ride, keeping you engaged from start to finish.

The Playful Animatronics: Delightfully Surprising

As you float through Splash Mountain, you’ll come across a host of animatronic characters bringing the story to life. These lifelike figures add a touch of whimsy and surprise to the ride, creating moments of sheer awe and wonder.

From Br’er Rabbit’s misadventures to Br’er Fox’s cunning tricks, each animatronic scene is masterfully crafted to captivate and entertain visitors of all ages.

The Family-Friendly Experience: Fun for Everyone

While Splash Mountain offers a thrilling experience, it is still considered a family-friendly attraction. The ride is designed to be enjoyed by visitors of all ages, with a minimum height requirement to ensure the safety of young children.

The scares are mild and more focused on creating a sense of adventure rather than terror. This allows families to bond and create cherished memories together.

The Refreshing Finale: A Soaking Surprise

As the ride nears its end, a final splash awaits you. This climactic moment leaves riders drenched but exhilarated. The refreshing finale adds an element of surprise and ensures a memorable end to your Splash Mountain adventure. It’s a perfect opportunity to cool off on a hot day while having a great time.

At this time, Disney’s Splash Mountain water ride is temporarily closed. But why?

According to Disneyland officials, the water ride is now being renovated. This renovation project is expected to last more than a year. The re-imagined ride, which will be called “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” is scheduled to open in late 2024.

Splash Mountain will reopen at Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2024 with a “Princess and the Frog” theme based on the 2009 Disney animated film.

Meanwhile, a 2 billion dollar theme park and resort will rise in the year 2026 in Oklahoma that will be comparable to Disneyland and DisneyWorld. To learn more about this upcoming gigantic amusement park, click here.

Overall, I’d say Splash Mountain at Disneyland combines the perfect blend of excitement, storytelling, and family-friendly fun. Its sudden plunges, suspenseful storyline, playful animatronics, and refreshing finale come together to create a truly memorable experience.

While it may provide thrills, Splash Mountain is not overly scary, making it accessible to a wide range of visitors. So, if you’re seeking a water ride that offers a perfect balance of adventure and entertainment, Splash Mountain is a must-visit attraction at Disney when it opens again next year, in 2024.
