I listened to an interview of two bitcoiners who, among other things, discussed Keynesian and Austrian economic theories. They mentioned ‘steelmanning’ and ‘strawmanning’ several times.
That is from where the genuine pursuit of intelligence and wisdom originates.
In the difference between ‘strawmanning’ and ‘steelmanning,’ you can find one of the essential elements for personal growth and pursuit of wisdom.
Strawmanning
Strawmanning is a method where the essence is to defend one’s own and challenge the opposing perspective.
One does not care if there is any truth on the opposite side. Only to defend own perspective and win at all costs.
In this method, the defender seeks out the weakest opposing point of view, misinterprets it, and focuses all their energy on bringing it down.
