Some readers may still be struggling with the void in their space or schedule left by emptiness. The reason that emptiness makes us so nervous is because, as “empty” as it is, it’s also “full” of ambiguity.

“To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.“— Oscar Wilde

We are accustomed to having that space filled with our stuff or busyness and will naturally feel compelled to fill the space with something, anything to throw ourselves out of our current state of limbo into a phase that feels more occupied.

Of course, no one enjoys being in limbo. Without direction or a deadline, all of us can feel confused, lost, unmotivated, and anxious. Man, tolerate is the best answer; tolerate the discomfort of limbo like we tolerate the pain of a hard workout.

Stay within yourself, be confident that your practicing is ample preparation, and push yourself to find the gift of the unknown. Whenever I feel myself slipping, use the following techniques to get myself back on track.

“They say that t time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” — Andy Warhol

Proclaim a period of observation

Commit one to two weeks to nothing but conscious study of yourself. Observe your reaction to the world around you. What do you notice? What do you daydream about? Take advantage of empty space to evaluate different ideas, but don’t pressure yourself to decide anything.

Reconnect to your vision

Whenever you are distracted by thoughts of the past or future instead of focusing on your current situation, reconnect to your vision or theme. Get the words of your theme in your mind’s eye and ask yourself what the gift of the current moment is in relation to your theme.

Reminding yourself that you are moving in the right direction is soothing, and experiencing the moment in the context of your theme will ground you very quickly.

Start everyday brand new

No matter how dreary or weary we may feel, we possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before us, absolutely anything may happen. And the fact that it practically always doesn’t, matters not a jot.

The possibility is always there.

Accept your feelings as authentic

Getting to this point in the process requires a vigorous effort on your part to uncover a more authentic version of yourself. Trust that hard work now. Know whatever emotion you are feeling is authentic and pay attention to it.

Make your Own Meditation

Traditional meditative practices use breathing techniques to calm the mind and body. But traditional mediation isn’t for everyone; many people don't have patience for the exercise.

Find or even make your own meditation. What calms your mind and body and help you tolerate the ambiguity of the current state? It could be something physical or something less active, like praying, listening to music, or connecting to God.

Listen and be sensitive

Start to listen to people or someone you love more carefully to connect your inner body and repack the dialogue before you reply to the conversation. Concentrating on figuring out their response is one of the easiest practices that I always do.

Now listen…

Knowing what pushes you out of the moment, combined with a plan to counteract those situations, can help you stay in it. Name two or three things that drag you down every time, then list what you do to keep from straying too far.

3 2 1. . .and

go. . .

Now,

We are game for life’s adventures. Don’t forget this feeling. It is the essence of life to its fullest. You will continue to draw upon it as you drive toward your vision

As you experiment with different life choices and decide what is right and wrong for you, you should be able to return to this sense of self-centeredness.

Savoring everything about here and now — the journey becomes a joy.

Congratulation this psychotherapy session is free…

Lol.
