There are not a lot of Asian Americans who are billionaires although there may be many who can be considered to be financially successful. Although there are a number of Asian billionaires, Americans of Asian descent who obtained billionaire status are quite rare.

Loan Depot made it to the New York Stock Exchange in 2021 and made Anthony Hsieh a billionaire in the process.

Lisa Lee and Davaide Scigiliuzzo wrote an article for Bloomberg with the title: “From cashier to CEO, tycoon. Loan Depot billionaire Anthony Hsieh an inspiration to Asians.”

In the article, Hsieh is quoted as saying, “I have a unique opportunity. I have effectively crossed over and earned the respect of non-Asians and that gives Asians lots of pride.”
