Life has not been the same since Trump left the White House. The jokes are still around but they’re not as funny. How can they be? His mouth is still zipped shut — that little feathered bird forever lodged in his gullet.

But how can we forget the invention of a word that will go down in history: “covfefe” will be used for decades. And the blunders, oh so many blunders. Will late-night hosts still come up with funny jokes by simply reading the news? And what about those great photos of that orange face and cotton candy hair blowing in the wind? He did not keep his promise to make America great again but he made it laugh.

I yawn when I read “The New York Times” these days. It reads like the “Main Street Daily News.” Their journalists may want to follow this tip given by BBC, advising reporters to look at non-news pages of newspapers and “read them with your antennae waving” to come up with at least a few lines to scribble.

One reporter did just that. Who knew that TikTok was a source of breaking news? But the headline “Gorilla Glue as Hair Spray? Bad, Bad, Bad Idea” caught my attention.

Long story short, a young woman ran out of hair spray and used glue instead. It hasn’t been removed so far but she got enough publicity to appear in a major newspaper, albeit in the Style section. I ask myself why a story about spraying one’s hair with glue is in the Style section. I can only guess it was another slow day in the newsroom.

But I don’t despair. We still have the second impeachment trial to look forward to. It should be fun. We can look forward to the arguments presented in favor of Trump by Bruce Castor Jr. This legal eagle was a district attorney who chose not to file sexual assault charges against Bill Cosby. Sounds like the ideal lawyer for Trump.

So yes, I still have hope. Hope for more fun and antics from that Orange Menace who is ensconced in his palace in Florida. Watching and waiting.

Like all journalists, commentators, and late-night hosts, I too am waiting for more material. This is what I dream of:
