Indonesia’s joining BRICS, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa became a whole new and substantial story in economic alliances, but more importantly it is a real turning point in terms of political and economic developments.
So what about for the global community and, much more importantly, for the United States?
We’ll play with the option that this was a ripe strategic move with the contended implications.
The BRICS bloc already holds a big slice – almost 28 percent – of the world’s GDP. This economic powerhouse is bolstered by Indonesia’s membership which gives opportunity for trade and investment. In addition, the New Development Bank (NDB), access to which can help Indonesia’s infrastructure ambitions grow and promote growth across the region, would be available to Indonesia.
But the implications are larger than that, simply from an economic standpoint.
