Breaking News: Newsbreak is Deactivating Contributors April 14th and Making Writers Re-Apply
Newsbreak is transitioning again — what does this mean for contributors and community news?
March 26, 2025, Newsbreak sent an email saying that I would need to [re]apply to be a contributor effective April 15, 2025 because they are:
“transitioning to a new application-based contributor program and your contributor status will be deactivated. If you are interested in applying to our new program, you may do so through this exclusive link through May 1, 2025. As a former contributor, your application will receive priority review. For your reference, here are our community standards.”
They also added a transition timeline stating
You’ll retain access to the contributor portal and can continue publishing content until April 14, 2025. After this date, your content will be removed from our platform.
You may apply through May 1, 2025 through this exclusive link if you’d like the opportunity to continue publishing with us.
If qualified for monetization, you’ll receive your final payout by May 15, 2025
