Remembering to Live-UPDATED
a short poem- reading by A. Dahl with music
Remembering to live
The rising sun I welcome, gratefully,
ending the unkindness of dreams.
It’s an easy decision to laugh, now,
that arises with his smile for me.
“Get up sleepy head,” I say.
My gentle pounce upon him goes awry
leaving me flipped, viewing the ceiling
soft on my back, accepting a kiss.
When he asks where we’ll go,
I say “I have to remember.”
“Remember what?” He smiles.
“Everything,” is the answer,
but inside me says “and forget”
thinking of all that remains
of the troubles in my heart.
“I bought you a pair of shoes.”
