EXT. WASHINGTON, DC — DAWN

The camera pans the rising sun, then moves scenically to the Washington Monument, the Capitol Building, the White House, and finally the Supreme Court.

EXT: SUPREME COURT BUILDING — SAME

One vendor is out front, getting his cart ready for the morning crush. Two street sweepers make synchronized passes in front of the court.

ANOTHER ANGLE

The camera eases up the great steps as the doors open as if on cue.

INT: COURT ROTUNDA — SAME

We’re inside. Quiet solemnity. Guards preparing. Clerks rushing inside carrying briefcases. The sounds of doors opening and closing echo off the marble stairways.

INT: CORRIDOR — MOMENTS LATER
