Should Women be Actively Involved as Leaders in Christian Ministry?
Many will Quote Things Paul Said Seeming to Say they Shouldn’t be. But, Was He Simply Preaching New Laws and Rules?
So many say women should not be leaders in the church, and it’s all up to men, who are purportedly superior to women, more highly educated, and of course more wise. Is this true? Jesus befriended and considered a lot of women to be capable and sound in spirit. But being a man’s world at the time, he did not choose any of them to be disciples.
We are not under law, but under grace. Yet, some ministers are so legal minded they always want to create new rules, restrictions, and codes of conduct to live by. To me these are social issues mostly, not spiritual issues. They are political issues as well.
And religion always tries to control people. Many ministers get on a soapbox to voice their opinions, causing division between people. We often get off on minor issues and miss the major issues of the gospel. Jesus mentioned this more than once in confronting the (male) religious leaders. Still today, religious leaders know a lot more about law than they do about grace, and most often instruct in law, 10,000 strong (First Corinthians 4:15).
