Have you ever considered how much your mind and stomach are alike? What you put into each can affect your health, depending on what you feed them, what is digested, out to use, and eliminated. Let’s look at these and other similarities and what they can mean to your life.

Similarities between the brain and stomach

An author and editor of several magazines early in the last century was among the first to write about how the stomach and mind are alike. It is an interesting line of thought and deserves further consideration.

“The mind is like the stomach. It is not how much you put into it that counts, but how much it digests.” Albert J. Nock (1870–1945)

I have always found it amazing how our body reacts to what we feed it. To think we can put delicious things into our mouths, digest and extract beneficial nutrients, and eliminate waste is similar to how our minds function.

Physically, all living things use the same process down to the level of the cell.

The concept further extends to every business and organization in the world. What they produce requires taking in raw materials (which could be in the form of information)…
