Many claim life is a journey, but what kind of a journey is it? While we know it begins at birth and stops when our time ends, the days traveled in between are the only thing we can control. This reality leads to many questions, such as “How do I want to be during my journey?”

The journey

“Life is a journey” is not an original theme, yet it expresses a truth that is hard to deny. A consultant, author, and publisher wrote a variation on “Life as a journey” many years ago. His small change is followed with simple, thought-provoking truth. He wrote:

“Someone has well said, ‘Success is a journey, not a destination.’

Happiness is to be found along the way, not at the end of the road, for then the journey is over and it is too late.

Today, this hour, this minute is the day, the hour, the minute for each of us to sense the fact that life is good, with all of its trials and troubles, and perhaps more interesting because of them.” Robert Rawls Updegraff (1889–1977)

Updegraff’s words are clear, and their meaning is profound.
