Ron Cephas Jones (1957–2023) was a prolific, award winning actor who garnered acclaim in “This is Us” has transitioned and leaves a legacy adored by many. He performed on the New York stages, film and television. He won two Emmys for his role in the NBC melodrama “This is Us” and earned a Tony nomination for Lynn Nottage’s “Clyde’s.” He played William Hill in “This is Us.” At the age of 66, he succumbed to a long standing pulmonary issue.

After his death, much adoration poured out. Anyone who knew him and spent anytime in his presence was graced with his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness and heart and was left changed by his presence. Jones unique personality was seen in his work early on in his career.

Jones acting career begun when he was in college and he received wide acclaim in 2016 playing Hill, the biological father of Sterling K. Brown’s character, Randal Pearson. His recurring character was followed by his many fans. His character’s role, father and son reconnecting along with the story’s redemptive story line resonated with audiences and critics. This adoration lead to him being nominated for four Emmy Awards for his performance. He won two, 2018 and 2020.
