Spinoza Was Right, and It’s Worse Than Ever
During the 17th century philosopher Baruch Spinoza created an analysis of human nature which seems like a prediction of modern behavior. According to him people submit to their emotions and desires instead of rational thoughts. That observation demonstrates perfect accuracy and stands as more true during our current times. Modern society shows increasing dominance from social media excitement, political group conflicts and spontaneous reactions to every happening which results in the destruction of rational thinking.
If we look around, the global economy stands amidst uncertain times but people still choose immediate pleasures instead of enduring for long-term economic security. Governments give disproportionate capital to the people through government support while creating inevitable inflation and economic breakdowns. The people who accept governmental handouts do not understand that such free benefits push others out of employment through this economic exchange. People display urgent appeals for immediate pleasure while reason forewarns against such behavior.
