I was all set to upgrade to X Premium after reading an inspiring story titled Why I Upgraded to X Premium as a Writer, Curator, and Strategist from my mentor, Dr Mehmet Yildiz a few days ago. But today, a report about X itself gave me pause as privacy is very important to me. Let me share the details with you in my own words, so you can be informed, too. Grab your popcorn 🍿!

Ever since Elon Musk bought Twitter in October 2022, turning it into fancy X, the platform has been under the magnifying glass of the European Commission. They are investigating whether X violated the Digital Services Act (DSA), a law to ensure major digital platforms protect user privacy and prevent harmful content from spreading.

According to a recent report tweeted on X, months of scrutiny revealed that X didn’t comply with DSA rules on advertising transparency.

Unlike Meta’s Facebook, which maintains an easily searchable ad library, X lacks such a database. This makes it hard to track ads, a key transparency measure the DSA demands.
