I don’t tend to buy fancy books for my journals but I couldn’t resist this little baby. I tried. I probably picked it up and put it down six times as we circled the gift shop in Reykjavik back in 2016. I wound up picking it up one more time than putting it down but didn’t actually get around to using it until this past summer.

And this is by far the fanciest book I’ve ever written in. The paper is acid-free and “harvested from sustainable forests”. It also states in teensy weensy writing on the inside back cover that “no part of this book may be reproduced without written permission”. How’s that for covering all the bases?

These are the kinds of notebooks I’ve typically used for journaling.

When I began the monumental task of ridding myself of about three-quarters of everything I owned in preparation for the move to New York, I pulled out the box containing the pile o’journals and scratched my head. Was I really going to lug all those with me? Why?
