With just about two weeks sunk into the season, this has provided the Destiny community enough time to settle into ongoing events and start speculating about what is to come.

As with any new season, new data gets thrown into the database that usually outlines anything new in Destiny: Gear, weapons, activities, backend changes, etc. Unfortunately for Bungie, that has occasionally resulted in data being posted about upcoming releases.

That seems to have happened again as with the latest patch the API now lists a reprised raid that was not previously listed and was considered to be thrown into the Destiny Content Vault (DCV); Scourge of the Past.

Scourge was a popular raid that was introduced to us in Destiny 2 about five years ago, a Fallen-themed raid that had some pretty unique mechanics. Not to mention it was relatively short compared to other raids, it made it easier to dive into on a weekend without having to invest a whole evening. It was definitely a fan favorite in our clan and the news of this was enough to get plenty of people excited.

Following the cadence of seasonal releases, the next season is favored to feature the Fallen, giving more credibility to the claim. Although it is worth pointing out this is not 100% confirmed and likely won’t be until the next season launches in August.

If we are to believe that Scourge is coming back it raises the obvious questions:

  • What, if anything, will be revised with this raid?
  • Will it continue to feature Fallen in the remnants of the Last City?
  • Is this an opportunity for Eramis to make another appearance?
  • And will Anarchy be the raid exotic?

Given what we have seen thus far with reprised raids it would make sense to expect some changes, though I would anticipate they won’t be as significant this time around.

To be honest I don’t feel as excited as I thought I would hearing this news. Scourge was a really fun raid but was lower on my list compared to any of the other potential raids we could see make a return. Who knows, maybe we will see sweeping changes to inject some fresh life into this reprisal, Season 22 is a ways out so for now all we can do is speculate.
