When DMC4 came out in 2008, for some reason I just never arsed myself to play it. Even though DMC1 and DMC3 are among my favorite games ever, DMC4 was a skip for me. Maybe it was — what I considered at the time to be — underwhelming reviews in comparison to its predecessors. DMC1 and DMC3 were both worth a 9/10 while DMC4 received lower scores.

Perhaps it was because I knew what to expect with little reason to get back into it. Or maybe it’s because I was entering my competitive career with the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Nintendo Wii at the time.

Whatever the reason, it took 14 years and the release of Devil May Cry 5 for me to finally pick up this game. Even after borrowing it from one of my best friends for PS3, I just never played past the first stage. However, after sitting on my backlog for years, I finally decided to play the Special Edition on my PS4.
