I didn't hate it.

What differentiates Silent Hill from other survival horror games is its unique setting and focus on psychological horror. Characters are not only being chased by monsters in the fictional Silent Hill ghost town but also by manifestations of their trauma. The world of Silent Hill is a living, breathing entity warping with the deepest fears of its captors.

In October 2022, Konami announced the return of the Silent Hill Franchise after a decade without a release. They announced not just one game, but many games to be released to take place within the lore of the mysterious town. Fans felt elated.

The first release, Silent Hill Ascension, an interactive pay-to-alter game, was met with critically negative reviews upon its release in October 2023.

Fast forward to January 31st, 2024, Konami stealth drops an unannounced Silent Hill Game, Silent Hill Short Message, the first game where players can return to the beloved town they love to fear and the experience was not terrible, but underwhelming.
