Sonic Origins: Solid Ports of Four Classic Sega Titles

I recently beat Sonic Origins for Nintendo Switch. This passion project consists of four games: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Despite reading some initial backlash to the game’s release, I ended up loving this whole collection more than I expected to.

Note: As of August 2022, Sonic Origins received a patch to fix many of its notable bugs.

For the uninitiated, this compilation features ports of the classic 90s side-scrolling Sonic titles from the Sega Genesis and Sega CD. Highlighted along the most noteworthy 2D platformers of their era, many fans consider the original Sonic titles among the best even today. You’ll blast through at supersonic speeds to save the world from Dr. Eggman’s ambitions!
