A drop-down menu will provide you with the option to “Promote” your video, you want to click on that next. You will need to have a Google Ads account if you do not.

Then just follow the steps as you follow along with this demonstration and create your free Google Ads account. Take your time, this is a tutorial, not a contest.

After clicking on the “Promote” option, you will be redirected to your Google Ads account. This is where you also choose which Google Ads account you wish to use in the event you have multiple Google Ads accounts.

Simply select the Google Ads account you wish to use, and you will be redirected to step 2 in this illustrated tutorial.

Step Two: If you have been following along, you should now be on a page resembling the illustration below. Showing the video thumbnail for the video you wish to promote. Simply fill out the details.

The “landing page” is the bridge page URL or other acceptable URL you wish to redirect to with the call-to-action button. Choose a button label, along with a striking headline.

You have limited characters to do this so be creative, and be sure your choice inspires curiosity.

You also want to ensure that the option to “Drive video views and traffic to a website” is selected right at the top of your Google Video Ad. Just check the illustration above.

Do take note of how much we are paying per 30-second view for this particular ad with Google Ads in South African Rand (ZAR). 15 to 40 cents, which is around 0.0080 to 0.021 cents per 30-second ad view in dollars!

Compared to the accustomed 1–3 dollars per click with the normal Google Ads, I think this is a game changer! If you would like to place your ad in multiple languages, simply add them along with the “English” default setting.

Next up, gender, age, etc.

Step Four: Next up, you will be selecting the gender, age, and parental status choices for your Google Video Ad. If you have a dieting product for women for instance, obviously you want to target a female crowd.

As you can see below, I’m just leaving them all checked. Because this particular video, and the URLs with it will resonate with a wide audience.

In this case, Google has already chosen the best interests to target, based on the content of the video we chose for this demonstration.

In the “search for interests” window, you choose the interests that best describe your video. And the redirect links associated with the call-to-action button. Along with the link in your video description!

As you can see below, Google has already chosen the following interests: “podcasts”, “how to make a podcast”, and “podcast editing services”.

Next, you simply move on to the next step, which is setting your Google Video Ad budget.

Step Six: Set your YouTube video ad budget in Google Ads, in this case, you will notice that our currency is in South African Rand (ZAR).

For this demonstration, we will just be setting a 500 ZAR budget per day.

That is around $26.55 dollar per day. The lowest that you can set the budget is 120 ZAR or $6.37 per day.
