We all have certain stereotypes and notions about the places we are about to visit, based on what we have heard, the name of the place, and so on — before we have even set foot there.
To avoid that I always visit places without having too many expectations. Even then, sometimes you have surprises in store for you that eliminate even the tiniest remnants of pre-conceptions that you may have had.
Estonia was such a surprising place for me. Here are the top things I learned from my visit there, that blew my mind!
1. The Food Is Amazing and the Local Liquor Is Delightful
Duh! Isn’t it one of the reasons why you travel to a new country? Food and drinks are a part of a country’s culture — and it certainly shows in Estonia. As per our local tour guide, Estonia does not have its own special cuisine but the cuisine has a multitude of influences from all the surrounding areas — Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and Russia. So it usually consists of meat, vegetables, and bread.
