Is pure ecology a scientific disciplined underdeveloped? Is pure ecology a scientific field that can find room to breathe? Is there still wonder under the catastrophic, anthropomorphic and urgent world of ecology?

My answer is yes.

More than ever, we have to wonder what the natural world can teach us. And more than ever, we have to pursue the path of knowledge about our home planet.

Several sub-fields of ecology still present fundamental questions that need addressing. Most are related to environmental changes, evolution and complex dynamics of populations and communities. But far more important is how we answer these questions and pose new ones.

Is ecological knowledge still able to reach us all? Are we able to understand the peculiar mechanism of our home planet Earth and its natural systems? I aim to send you a few questions and state which I consider would advance the field quite notoriously in the next few years and help innovate and tackle present…
