Buddha’s teachings will help you understand the world better
Who is Buddha?
The word Buddha means — the enlighted one.
His actual name was Siddhartha Gautama. He was born in an aristocratic family in Lumbini, in 563 BCE. At some point in life, when he understood the futility of this world, he left everything behind and started searching for the truth.
Later, after six years of searching, at the age of 35, Siddhartha found The Truth while meditating under the Bodhi tree and became the Buddha, the enlightened one.
Then he spent the rest of his life teaching others about how to achieve this spiritual state called Nirvana. Thus, he became the founder of Buddhism.
Followers of Buddhism focus on achieving enlightenment(Nirvana)— a state of inner peace and wisdom. They do not acknowledge any supreme God or deity.
