Everyone has dreams, yet few see them through. The difference between wishing and winning comes down to two things anyone can conquer.

Why do we stall?

It takes more than talent to bring a dream to life. Dreams don’t die from failure; they die from the neglect of not starting, or from starting and then quitting.

Why do so many of us dream of writing a book, starting a business, or creating something meaningful, yet stall when we know we should act? Procrastination plays a part, but it often runs deeper. Sometimes we avoid progress without realizing it. Other times, we fall into “excusitis,” inventing reasons to delay.

No matter how determined we feel, something always seems to get in the way. We start, stop, and let distractions pull us off track.

I know this firsthand. One morning in 2000, while journaling, I wrote that I should write a book. The more I thought about it, the more convinced I became. Not just for myself, but so I could help others save time and live better lives.

“The hardest thing about getting started, is getting started.” — Guy Kawasaki
