How to win people like you is to make the other person feel important. You can do this by being yourself. If you think that other people think highly of you, they will feel obligated to spend time with you. This is especially true when it comes to social occasions.

If you know that there is at least one other person who knows your name or knows your face, then it is highly likely that they would be willing to befriend you. They would feel more comfortable knowing that you are open and friendly.

Showing Respect

Everyone feels more comfortable around people who show respect for them. If you don’t have any respect for someone, then you wouldn’t have any friends. Even if you are dating someone, always remember to show respect for them and their life decisions.

Involves Genuine Praise

If you consistently praise another person, then they will automatically start to admire you. For instance, if you are doing a good job at your job, then you will receive some positive feedback from your work. This will help you build up confidence in yourself. However, if you continuously tell someone that you are not satisfied with something, but you still call attention to it, then this is not genuine praise.

This is an example of a principle that shows disrespect. Someone who consistently says things like “I am not happy about that” or “That is not what I had in mind” shows total disrespect for the other person. Instead of saying “You did a great job on that”, why don’t you just say “Thank you very much”.

If the other person gives you a negative response or shows irritation, then you can always end the conversation on a bad note. This will ensure that you never get into any confrontations ever again. If you want to make sure that you don’t make any mistakes in front of anyone, this is the easiest way to go about it.

“The only way on earth to influence other people is to talk about what they want and show them how to get it.” — Dale Carnegie

Be Present and Connect

To be fully engaged within the moment, hear more and speak less. By being an energetic listener, you gain insight into what’s driving the opposite person emotionally. Once you understand the emotional factors steering their thinking, you’ll demonstrate that you simply understand them, and your conversation will advance. If you appear distracted, insincere, or self-concerned, you’ll lose them from the outset, and that they will likely behold out against your efforts.
