3 Habits That Can Help You Become a Happier Person
Happiness on another level, with full of surprises every day.
This is how I define Happy — A feeling or showing of contentment. Something that you are looking forward to and that excitement inside of you.
We all have our definitions of “Happy” that's for sure. Just take this moment to think about this, sometimes being happy doesn't mean you're in a sunflower field dancing the night away on a stary night. Being happy you have to be realistic and about being grounded and having that peace regardless of what life may throw at you. It doesn't mean you will have all the bad days, but when there are bad days there are also good days too. Over time you will be able to build and handle any challenges that life that may have been throwing your way. Here are my top 3 habits that can help you become a make you a happier person.
1. Wake Up Earlier
We all may have a normal day to day schedule or routine, but how about trying to wake up an extra fifteen minutes or even half an hour. Why you may ask? I find that when we do this it gives us a little more time to ourselves and being able to maybe give thanks in the morning for a new day, or read a new chapter in that book we may have been reading or wanting to read. Sometimes having that “Me Time” can help you recharge and set the mood. But having that time to center yourself and sets the tone for your entire day allows you to start your day on a positive note.
2. Being Present
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” — Mother Teresa
I find myself thinking on Mother Teresa's quote because I define it as we can't relive yesterday, we can’t predict tomorrow, but we can control today. One day at a time in order to achieve what we need in a day. We get so distracted in social media or what may be happening in the world. It's very consuming and this tends to be a big distraction that could lead to disengagement. Instead of rushing through your day just stay still and enjoy the moment, because you can always go through your day but you may not be able to get those little moments back. We can only do some much in a day and why waste it?
3. Stop Comparing Yourself To Others
You know you have done it, or even in one way or another. Social media I find is the worse when it comes to comparing yourself to others. Why? Take Instagram for an example, we spend hours looking, scrolling, and feel may be defeated when looking at these people's stories or pictures on the platform that they all may look “Happy” and a “Perfect Life.” You also see they have big homes, they have all your dreams and goals in one picture. Not everything in a picture is perfect guys. Heard of “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”? It's the same thing, we assume right away it’s this perfect life but we don't really know what goes behind the scenes of a captured image. It's important to realize that there's more than what we see online. We only tend to see the highlight reels of that person's life or anything that you may be comparing yourself to. I find it normal because why would they post something negative we always want to see the best parts of positive content. Turn on your filter and know that it's not always realistic to have that lifestyle. You just have to set yourself realistic goals and know that no one is perfect. This will make you happy and realize that you are you, and they are them.
These are my 3 simple habits that can make you a happier person if you at least try or put it into practice. Remember, that you can easily try to implement in your life today to make you feel a little more grounded, and most importantly HAPPY. You are not alone and remember you are different and unique.
