Are you working out in the morning or do you prefer a tough workout after work in the evening?

Why does that matter? You might ask.

Well, it’ll dictate how much fat you’ll lose or muscle you’ll gain. As simple as that.

For eg. If you want to lose weight it’s better to get an early workout in the mornings. Take a look: Research

Countless overlooked factors like the timing of exercise have a great deal of impact on your results so let me tell you about a few of them

Time

When should you go for a workout?

It’ll depend on what your goals are…

For Gaining Muscle: To put on muscle you should exercise in the evenings because doing heavy exercise in the evenings has been shown to improve your Cortisol-to-testosterone ratio.

Meaning your body will be making more tissue and breaking less of it.

Plus in the evenings you’ll have higher endurance and flexibility to give it your all during the workout.

For Losing Weight: It’s better to get through a morning workout as in the morning your body burns more fat and needs to spend more energy. It’ll also regulate your hormones.

For BP reduction: In males, there’s a higher decrease in BP if they work out in the evening as opposed to a higher decrease during the morning in women. Study

The temperature of the surroundings also affects your outcome of exercise.

  • Weight loss: The higher the temperature, More the reduction in fat

Warning: Take appropriate care to not go overboard (>40 degrees) or you can heat stroke

  • Muscle Gain: 37 degrees to 39 degrees are ideal for your muscle growth which is why it’s recommended to work out during the period between 2 to 6 pm.

Frequency

One of the most overlooked factors by people starting out is how often they exercise as they tend to go overboard with it.

Too much exercise can also be harmful to you and you need to give appropriate time to your body to recover.
