Productivity is a lifelong goal.

It has become effortless to waste time from a meaningless game to movies to just staring.

We find ways to be wasteful of this useful resource called time.

Occasionally, we are very productive, ticking all the bullet points on our to-do lists. Other times, we can’t even check off a meager two. It’s hard.

But some simple things can make it less grueling.

Enough with the introduction. Let’s get down to business.

Here are 3 simple tips that help me be more productive daily.

1. Write out my plan for the day.

This may not stick with you but, planning your day will help you be more productive. It’s much easier to carry out tasks when you know what you want to do.

When you wake up in the morning, write out all the things you think you’ll be doing that day. It may not be when you wake up.

Just make sure you do this before you start any task.

The first step is knowing the task at hand.

Not doing this is one of the main reasons that you sometimes stare into the void.

Call it a to-do list, a worksheet, or whatever. Just make sure you do this. It’ll help you to stop floating from task to task daily.

A simple way of doing this is with a journal. Physical or digital. I personally prefer a physical journal. Sometimes I use a digital one. Mainly because I can take it everywhere I take my phone.

For those of you who prefer an app for productivity, here is the one I sometimes use.

Its Notion. Pretty easy to use. Especially when you get templates.

2. Getting started.

Just start.

Whether or not you have an action plan.

This is probably the tip that has helped me the most. It has saved me countless times from the abyss of laziness.

Today, I was supposed to write this post earlier. I didn’t. I just went from task to task and avoided this one. I was waiting to enter the flow state before I wrote. That didn’t happen though.

I only entered the flow state when I started writing. It happened after, not before I started.

If you already know the task at hand, dive into it. Before your brain can create some top-notch excuses.

3. Starting with the easiest task.

Just diving into a task can be really hard. Sometimes, it is more challenging than you view it.

The first step is usually the hardest. Why not make it easier?

Start with the easiest. Don’t complicate your work.

What I like doing is writing my tasks from the easiest to the hardest. The easiest is the first and the hardest the last. This helps me get into work mode.

Moving from task to task in order of increasing difficulty is rather straightforward.

Wrapping Up.

I’ve become more productive with three simple tips.

1. Writing out my plan.

2. Getting started.

3. Starting with the easiest task.

Getting work done will become much easier for you when you start implementing this.

Don’t forget to reward yourself though. A sense of accomplishment, a little treat, anything. The brain loves compensation for hard work.
