Self-Improvement: Making money — #ILLUMINATION
3 Tips to Make More Money with Your Writing
From two of the best brains on Medium on the subject.
Who are these brains, and what do they have to say?
Patience, Grasshopper, patience.
I enjoy reading, and I am getting my money’s worth on Medium, and more. I peruse through the list on my Medium app and add stories to my reading list, hoping to get to them soon.
A couple of days ago, I wrote a story about multitasking and decided to take my own advice. I am setting aside time for reading and time for writing so that I can do both.
Speaking of writing, here are some of the gems I found.
We are writers, and we can use some guidance to help us become better writers and marketers so that we can make more money.
I came across a couple of good stories on writing headlines by Cynthia Marinakos. She is the best.
And here is one I just saw that I haven’t read yet, but based on what I know about her, I’ll recommend site unseen. I intend to read it as soon as I get a chance.
Now that you know how to write great headings, what’s next?
I have been following Linda Caroll since I started writing on Medium, and I get her newsletter as well. She is a storehouse of writing and marketing wisdom. She says tags are essential on Medium. VERY, VERY IMPORTANT. They earn you top writer status. So are topics. What’s the difference? Is there a difference? I am so glad you asked.
Alright, you hooked them and reeled them in, how about keeping them coming back?
I hope you enjoy these gems as much as I did.
My three Takeaways
1You must have strong headlines to grab your reader’s attention. You can spend all your time developing skills, conducting research, and writing a compelling copy, but a lousy headline means nobody will ever see it.
2Once you got them to click on your enticing headline, you have to make sure they read your story. Your opening line has to grab their attention, or they’ll be out of there faster than shi*t through a goose.
3Okay, so they like your work, and they may even check out your profile, but unless you have a way to reach them directly, there is no guarantee that they will ever see your work again. And that would be a shame.
Day twenty of the 30-day challenge. My theme: Self-improvement
As always, thank you for reading. And here are some more stories.
