Do you care about people not like you?
Most people are pretty decent. But there’s plenty of self-serving cold-hearted assholes.
If it doesn’t affect them or their inner circle, they don’t care.
Worse, they think people who look or sound or sound different, or people on the ropes, “get what’s coming to them.”
The poor and homeless are lazy.
All illegal immigrants suck off the teat of America, are in gangs and rape our women.
Gay and trans people are “gross and unnatural.”
Unmarried women who get pregnant are irresponsible “whores” or welfare queens.
They lack empathy and facts. They shrug and think, “Oh well, you reap what you sow.”
Ok, to be fair I know that some of the shittiest people are shitty because they’re hurt and broken.
What my better angels tell me is they got that way because their parents made them that way. With shaming religious beliefs, with bigotry, with beatings or worse.
They’ve been hurt, traumatized, mistreated, laid off, bullied, misunderstood or brainwashed.
They experienced too much rejection. Parents. Men. Women. Spouses.
