Despite a growing interest in automated processes across industries, agriculture remains one of the sectors with a great dependency on manual labor. What is particularly interesting to see is that the 2020 economic downtime, brought by Covid, has not affected agtech investment, according to Forbes (2021).

Optical Sorting

Similar to the usage of machines in the recycling process, I mentioned in one of my previous here, optical sorting allows to discard foods that are bad, overripe or do not have a purchasable look.

Equipped with a camera or laser, optical sorting machines can distinguish and remove underdeveloped coffee beans, mustard seeds, fruits, wheat and hemp, according to Wikipedia.
