Despite a growing interest in automated processes across industries, agriculture remains one of the sectors with a great dependency on manual labor. Similar to the usage of machines in the recycling process, I mentioned in one of my previous here, optical sorting allows to discard foods that are bad, overripe or do not have a purchasable look.

Equipped with a camera or laser, optical sorting machines can distinguish and remove underdeveloped coffee beans, mustard seeds, fruits, wheat and hemp, according to Wikipedia.
