3 Ways Meditation Changes Life
Building a Daily Practice in Uncertain Times
I’ve long been a proponent of daily meditation — but I’ve not been a long proponent of practicing it.
This is true for so many of us.
In earlier days exercise (running & walking) was my daily salve that served as a buffer and antidote to the stresses of modern living. While I still exercise 4–5 times a week I’ve also added a bigger commitment to meditation — one that has come with surprisingly unique results.
Meditation and the practice of it has been around for a long time. You can’t be living in 2023 without knowing about it and the growth of it. It seems fairly simple to start a practice — except for many of us, it isn’t.
Why is that?
One reason is that media overload is hurting our mental health. We’re wired to scan for headlines, to check our email numerous times a day, we text often, check other social media sites, so much so, that this way of life is incongruent with the practice of quieting the mind, putting the mobile phones away and just breathing.
