I’ve been a serious language learner for almost nine years, and although I had wanted to be a teacher since I was young, I never imagined I would eventually become one. And most definitely not for language.

Yet, thanks to COVID-19, my life changed course, and I can confidently say that I’ve stumbled upon something fulfilling, wonderful, and inspiring.

Up to now, I’ve met and worked with people from Japan to Mexico, from CEOs to farmers — people from all walks of life. I’ve listened to their stories and helped them with their English. Sometimes, I just listen to their stories.

They often ask me how they can improve their English, and after countless hours spent in the classroom as both teacher and student, I’ve noticed the same recurring themes hindering students.

Of course, I notice most of these themes in myself, too, but I actively work against them. Although this is specifically from my interaction with language acquisition, I’m fairly confident they can apply to anything in life.
